Homeopathic Consultations

The consultation is when you explain your symptoms and how they feel for you and anything else you may be struggling with and I build up a picture of you including those symptoms, your likes and dislikes, food preferences and other aspects of your character. We focus on you as an individual and concentrate on treating you as a whole rather than just a collection of different symptoms. Homeopathy is a holistic treatment recognising that symptoms of ill-health are frequently expressions of imbalance or disharmony within the whole person, and that it is the patient, not the disease itself, at which the treatment should be directed.

Prior to your first consultation I will send you a questionnaire that I would like you to fill in and bring with you to the first appointment so that I can see any other illnesses you may have had, any medication you are taking or have taken and if any illnesses run in your family.

The first consultation is often 1½ hours and afterwards I will consider different remedies looking for a homeopathic remedy that matches your symptoms and send it to you in the post.

At this first consultation we may book another consultation for 4-6 weeks in the future. This and subsequent consultations often take around 1 hour and we determine how the remedy has worked, whether you need an increase in the potency (strength) or if you may now need a different remedy. If you feel much better then no further consultations may be necessary.

With long-standing ailments often it can take a little while for healing to occur and different remedies may be needed along the way.

Children usually respond well to homeopathy. My room is child-friendly and has toys for younger children to play with and drawing materials for older ones. Whilst talking to the parent or carer I observe the child or with older children they may want some time to talk to me alone in which case you can have a cup of tea in the waiting area. Children’s consultations may take a shorter time but a questionnaire is still required.

There is no doubt that when you are received in a full and caring consultation there is an impact on your initial response but the depth and longevity of your responses are an indication that the remedy has resonated with you.
